Dodgy dates.

Having been a single girl in London for a couple of years now, I’ve had my fair share of wierd and wonderful dates ranging from the rude, the bad to the just plain dull. A few months ago I went on a date with a guy who seemed really lovely at first and I thought there was a bit of potential. Ok he was a bit scruffy round the edges and it looked like he hadn’t washed his hair for five months but the inner hippy in me was willing to give it a go! We went for drinks and a really nice curry, and then on to a late night bar. It was only when I put my hand over his top when we were back on my sofa having a kiss that I realised his top had a rip in it. Nothing wrong with that but the rip was being held together by a plastic cocktail stick! Sometimes it’s the little things that can really ruin a moment.

Much worse than my slightly odd hippy experience was a date with a guy I call "textbook boy". He worked in advertising and seemed to have done a degree in half baked pop physcology, but I met him through a friend and found him really funny and lovely so I thought it was actually going somewhere. We had seen each other a few times and it had the potential to turn in to a relationship. Or so I thought. The first time we actually slept together he kept saying my name, but in a really formal was as if he’d read in a textbook that women really loved that because it made them feel valued or something. Eugh! What made it worse was that he called me Alexandra. No one ever calls me that, all my friends call me Alex, literally the only people who call me by my full name are my grandparents which is what I kept thinking, which as you can imagine was enough to put anyone off....

But what I would say is that it’s really good to experience and remember the bad dates, not just so you have something to laugh about over a well deserved pint with your friends but also so you can keep in mind what you don’t want, and therefore what you do.

How does italy skiing contest sound to all of you? Everybody must put your names in, it is for you and a date to go skiing for one week! Lift tickets and accommodation are covered, how great is that?
