4 Reasons Why you Should Keep Your First Date Short

First dates are terrifying to some and exhilarating to others. But most will agree, that the first date is the most interesting, either due to a great sense of compatibility or because the date was a complete disaster. Either way, the first date is always memorable.

But one mistake a lot of people make is having a long, marathon first date. This should be avoided if you intend to get the best out of this unique occasion. Here are four reasons why you should keep your first date short.

1. You always act your best. On the first date, you will bring your best game. You will say your best jokes and you’ll keep your date interested. You will share simple details about your lives, such as your family, education, and job. However, the key is to keep it simple and positive without revealing too many details. If you do, you’re getting too personal too quickly. If the date lasts too long, you will inevitably reach more personal topics which should be reserved for the 5th or 6th date.

2. Too much fun too soon. You don’t want to give your date a 12 hour marathon on the first date, filled with exciting and romantic events. This will make it harder to top on your next few dates. Ease your date into the relationship by offering some fun, but not too much fun.

3. Leave them wanting more. Like #2, you don’t want them to get too much at once. By leaving them wanting more, you will ensure that they are thinking of you when they go home, and you’ll be thinking of them. Make them crave a second date.

4. Size up your date. A short date will give you a quick look at what he/she has to offer. You will get a good sense of their sense of humour, intelligence, and sex appeal. Don’t go too far in searching for their essence; a short date will allow you to size up your date for future occasions.

So there it is, on the first date withhold the urge to book weekend ski chalet holidays, instead just meet up for a coffee, you may be surprised how great your future dates turn out to be!
