Playing The Dating Game

The date is an hour away and you’re meeting on the embankment before heading to Soho for a bite to eat; you’re nervous–what are you going to talk about with this incredible girl you’ve been dying to meet with for ages? Here are a few do’s and don’ts that might be worth thinking about and might also help calm the nerves.

1) Don’t worry about the awkward silences that are bound to crop up as you get to know each other in that first half hour! These don’t have to be awkward. If you feel like it’s happening too often then smile and ask a question. Maybe her appearance tells you that she cares about clothes, or something she mentioned earlier might be something she’s actually very happy to talk about.

2) Despite what happens in the movies, unless you actually are a film star, don’t assume she wants the best (or most expensive) house wine; a woman appreciates it when you ask her what she wants. It shows you can be thoughtful. In the eyes of a woman, thoughtful = caring and caring = kind.

3) Is she umming and aaaaing about the menu? Oops–maybe she’s vegetarian and she’s too embarrassed to say. Don’t just sit there! Bring it up. You’d be surprised how an embarrassing moment can lead to many good talking points.

4) Don’t eat noisily! Eating is a personal thing guys! Some women don’t like it when you eat with your mouth full either.

5) Is her hand on the table? Is she smiling and laughing? Refrain from putting your hand near hers but instead reach out and touch her fingers. That way, if she really is interested, you’ll have her wanting more and when you do finally put your hand on the table she’ll giggle with excitement–which is what you want!

Hi, I like your dating site!
I have a new blog about dating/love and was wondering if you would like to do a blog roll exchange?

Thanks!

Interesting read, nice list of do’s and don’ts for a much awaited date. We have to also remember that dating is not a race to the finish line. It’s a beautiful journey, so enjoy it.
